Sangolda started on an attacking note and could have surged ahead in the 12th minute but Gopi Pawar’s powerful free-kick was blocked by a Moira defender on the goal line.
Then, Sangolda’s Shalom Rebello’s promising run in the danger zone was cut short by rival defender Gauresh Kerkar with a timely tackle in the 17th minute.
Two minute later, Moira took the lead against the run of play after Sangolda goalkeeper Rushab Hadfadkar fumbled in his collection that allowed Moira’s Ashwyn Chandy to sneak in and tap in the open goal.
Stung by the setback, Sangolda regrouped and equalized in the 20th minute. Shalom’s powerful right-footer was blocked by Moira
goalkeeper Ashen Fernandes but the ball rebounded to Mohan Pillay, who tapped in from hand-shaking distance.
Sangolda played good short passes and kept the rival defenders on their toes as Mohan sent in a defence splitting pass to Rohan Naik but the rival custodian made a timely collection to deny Rohan a clear chance at goal in the 25th minute.
Sangolda scored their second in the 28th minute after Mario’s in-swinging corner kick found Ritesh Amonkar, who sent in a pass to Shalom Rebello for an easy tap in.
Just before the lemon break, Sangolda gave away a needless free-kick after Lincio Noronha brought down Moira’s Akhil Prabhu at the edge of the box. In the resultant free-kick, Moira’s Sairaj Halankar’s curling shot went inches wide.
After resumption, Sangolda continued dominating and scored their third goal through Mario’s venomous 40-yard strike which caught the rival goalkeeper napping in the 49th minute.
Two minutes later, Moira made it 3-2 after Sairaj’s corner kick found Gauresh Kerkar, who slotted past the rival goalkeeper.
Moira tried hard to get back into the game but were restrained by Sangolda defenders — Shalom, Gopi, Myron and Sanjip, who stood tall in protecting their citadel.
Meanwhile, in a U-14 GFA football match at Seraulim ground Salcete FC crushed USC, Seraulim 11-0. Mark Baretto (6), Rahul Fernandes (3), Leonard Almeida and Jhonson Rebello scored for the winners.
At Quepem ground, Guardian Angel Sports Club thumped Tilamola United 4-1 while CRSC grounded Sirlim Sports Club 3-1.
Pax of Nagoa edged past Benfica Youth Club 2-1 at Velsao ground.
