During the meeting, Rane said that all the municipal councils and the corporation should conduct audits of the funds given under the Fourteenth Finance Commission. Expressing concern over the unutilisation of projects by the GSUDA, he said that municipalities should auction the shops and other premises and generate revenues for them. He deferred most of the agenda suggesting that the municipalities should come with concrete proposals which will generate revenues.

After the meeting, Rane said, “We discussed taking an agency on board to look after the functioning of the department. Assessment of municipalities to be done to work on revenue generation.”

Rane further said that the GSUDA Board members approved the appointment of Pratyusha Jain as the advisor of the chairman of GSUDA and Directorate of Urban Development, to oversee, guide and support execution and implementation of  various schemes and challenges.

But it is learnt from the sources that the Board only approved the proposal to appoint an advisor to the GSUDA chairman and the department and not the person mentioned by the minister.

There was only a proposal to appoint an advisor to the GSUDA chairman and the department but nowhere it was mentioned to appoint Pratyusha Jain, the sources said adding that it requires procedure for such appointment.
