NCP accused Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) that is in charge of the infrastructure project, of transferring funds allotted for the construction.Addressing the media on Wednesday, NCP spokesperson Trajano D’Melo said, “The reason why MCI has not granted permission for 50 more seats is because the infrastructure is not ready.”
It is also reliably learnt that funds allotted for the infrastructure of GMC have been diverted for the construction of third Mandovi Bridge by GSIDC.” He also said that the construction has not met the deadline as the contractors have still not been paid by GSIDC.
D’Melo said that NCP has written to the Chief Secretary on the issue. “We have written to the Chief Secretary demanding an immediate inquiry into the fiasco that is continuing with regards to MBBS seats for the year 2015-2016.”
Expressing concern on the recent collapse of a slab in IPHB, D’Melo demanded an inspection of other hospitals. He said, “We request directions to the PWD or any other engineering agency to inspect all the wards and buildings of GMC, IPHB and Hospicio Hospital and assure the people that everything is safe.”
