Gold, cash worth Rs 15 lakh burgled at Mapusa

MAPUSA: Gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh and cash of Rs 10 lakh were burgled from a house in Duler, Mapusa, on Sunday.

MAPUSA: Gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh and cash of Rs 10 lakh were burgled from a house in Duler, Mapusa, on Sunday.
Vandana Vinod Fadke complained to Mapusa police that unknown persons broke opened the door of her residence between 10.30 and 4.30 pm and decamped with six gold bangles, a gold chain, finger rings and a bracelet all valued at Rs 5 lakh. Besides, cash of Rs 10 was also burgled.
The culprits also broke opened houses of Fadke’s neighbours Shrikant Akarkar and Gopichand Raikar. However, they were disappointed as the houses had no valuables. 
On receiving the complaint, Mapusa police rushed to the spot and conducted panchanama. A dog squad and a finger print expert were pressed into service to get clues. Mapusa police have registered an offence under Section 457, 380 of IPC. PSI Paresh Ramnath is investing the case.
