She further called for the shifting of the women police station to the old collectorate building as she stressed that women police station lacks infrastructure and above all, most importantly, allocation of power and duties related to their work as women police.
She demanded that the WPS have powers to ensure profession al scientific and meticulous investigation and sensitive and successful prosecution of cases. She further called for the WPS to be empowered to monitor the implementation of Central and State Acts constituted for the upliftment of women and children. She further demanded that the anti-human trafficking cell of the district could in the discharge of its duties, keep watch on the trafficking activities and coordinate with local police station in coordination with women NGOs in carrying out rescues and raids.
She also called for better facilities at Hospicio hospital and the WPS for victims of sexual assault and rape including counselling centres, waiting room and questioned why the government was not following the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO).
She elaborated and said that a female gynaecologist was required at Hospicio for the medical examination of women and child victims of sexual offences and there was no need for a forensic professionals and said that victims should only be taken to Hospicio and not Goa Medical College as the ordeal of travelling all the way to the north was all the more traumatic. She also alleged that politicians in power were linked to the flourishing of prostitution in Goa that has seen film stars even being brought to Goa and sold. She questioned why the Goa government did not have the willpower to tackle this menace and dance bars the way the Maharashtra government had managed.
She called for the fast tracking of all post raid cases as she explained that the pimps and accused are out on bail and the places where the raids took place are still running and thus no strong precedent was set and the girls rescued too cannot be made to wait for an eternity to give their statements as they need to move on from the episode as well.
