On May 12, 2017, I had highlighted the public interest matter in Citizen Herald, titled “Wall Protection Needed”, Opp. St. Angustias Chapel, Golna in Pomburpa, Goa stating that very close to the main road, the stretch about 110 meters is narrow and to make matters worse the top one side is fenced with barbed wires which makes it a ‘dangerous zone’ for the motorist and the public. When two vehicles, especially heavy four wheelers meet each other, they cannot pass freely. If, anyone drives in without caution, there would be a fatal fall on the barbed wires.
Also, on the same date, I had made a representation to the Village Panchayat of Pomburpa – Olaulim stating the above facts and had requested to take up the matter on priority basis in public interest. To which, I had received a reply from the Panchayat vide ref no. VP/P-O/2017-18, dt 17/06/2017 and requested me to obtain irrevocable NOC in prescribed format on stamp paper of Rs 100, duly notarize from the owner/ tenant of land bearing survey number 100/2 of Pomburpa village in Bardez taluka.
However, I got surprised to read the letter when there is a village panchayat, a grass root development body and also its duty bound to give grass root safety to the public. Why should I obtain NOC from the land owner? After much thought, I changed my mind for better and twice I had been to the place of land owner/tenant’s house, but every time I got negative response and therefore I had set aside the matter from my focus.
Now, suddenly I received the good news that the pending development got green signal and as seen in the picture the works are in progress at the dangerous zone site.
