PANJIM: DY Patil scripted a nine-wicket win over Air India in a scintillating massive run-chase in Goa Corporate League match, organised by Goa Cricket Association, played at Goa Cricket Academy, Porvorim, on Thursday.
Despite Rohit Prakash’ unbeaten 120, Air India bowlers couldn’t stop Shahank Singh (107*) and Parth Sathani (66*), as the duo smashed a record 175 run stand for the second wicket partnership to chase down the target of 186 with four overs to spare.
Their run chase started in a great fashion but an early wicket of Prabhsimran, who was sent packing for just five runs, did give Air India some hope before Shashank ensured there were no further hiccups and he along with Parth took DY Patil to win.
Put to bat first, Air India’s Rohit Prakas smashed an unbeaten 120 runs in just 66 balls to help Air India post a commendable target of 186 runs in the allotted 20 over. Rohit hit 16 boundaries and six sixes in his run to the splendid unbeaten century.
After starting brilliantly Air India lost their first wicket in the fourth over when Sachin Rana was caught by Sarfaraz to send him back to the pavilion for just five runs in 12 balls.
But Rohit Prakash and Rajesh Sharma came with a 74 run partnership before Rajesh lost his wicket to Ripal Patel. Rishi Arothe was the pick of the bowlers for DY Patel wherein he gave 37 runs and picked up two wickets.
Chasing a massive target with the required run-rate just over 9, DY Patil lost Prabhsimran Singh early in the second over. But Shashank Singh and Parth Sathani smashed the ball all over the field to chase down the target in just 15.5 overs.
Shashank scored an unbeaten match-winning knock of 107 in 52 deliveries. He hit seven boundaries and seven sixes.
At the other end, Partha scored his half century hitting six boundaries and three sixes. Vishal Panchal took the only wicket of the innings but he gave away 41 runs in his allotted four overs.
Meanwhile in another match, Indian Oil Corporation easily reached the target of 124 runs set by Reserve Bank of India.
Batting first, RBI were bundled out for 124 in 19 overs. S Murumu was the top run getter for RBI scoring a half century in just 34 balls. Rajesh Pawar impressed with the ball for Indian Oil picking up four wickets.
Chasing a mere target, Ankush Bain scored a 34-ball 65 run to get Indian Oil closer to the target while Ravikanth was the other batsmen with a score of 37 runs. They reached the traget at the end of the 14th over.
