Borkar’s bail plea hearing adjourned

PANJIM: The CBI Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on the anticipatory bail application filed by former Sarpanch of Sancoale village panchayat Ramakant Borkar to September 16.

Borkar along with three others was charged with bribery for illegally issuing occupancy certificate for a construction project. This is the second corruption charge against him with the earlier case registered in July, for which he was arrested and subsequently released on bail.
Borkar’s anticipatory bail application is pending following a complaint filed by Narayan Naik that the trio demanded and accepted bribe of Rs two lakh from builder Everton Vales for allegedly hiding irregularities to issue occupancy certificate for a commercial/residential project.
On July 19, the ACB had allegedly caught Borkar red-handed accepting bribe of Rs 75,000 from one Munnalal Halwai to issue occupancy certificate for a bungalow constructed by his father.
