Only 25 establishments in the whole of Goa have permission to play music after 10 pm: GSPCB Chairman

This means that over a hundred who do play music after 10 pm are flouting the law each day; the procedure for applying for permission after 10 pm is clear

The GSPCB Chairman Mahesh Patil told Herald that the Board has given permission only to around 25 establishments in the last couple of months to play music beyond 

10 pm

>The Goa Noise Pollution Rules 2000 describes the procedure. There is a format of the application, which has to be filled and submitted to the Environment Department

>Application to play music after 10 pm to be sent to the Collector or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)

>Collector/SDM will send it to the Environment Dept which in turn sends it to the Goa State Pollution Control Board

>GSPCB will visit the site and an assessment report regarding the present noise levels, and the amenities near the location, like hospitals, schools, and housing colonies is done

>PERMISSION IS CONSIDERED ONLY IF THERE IS A PRESCRIBED NOISE CONTROLLING MECHANISM 

>GSPCB report is then submitted to the Environment Department, which in turn issues permission if the inspection report is favourable
