BICHOLIM: Commuters from Bicholim and Sanquelim have welcomed the KTC’s decision to start a KTC bus service at 7.30 pm along the Bicholim-Panjim route.
It may be recalled that Herald had highlighted the plight of commuters from Bicholim and Sanquelim, who had expressed unhappiness over KTC’s apathy to provide a bus service from Panjim to Bicholim during peak hours.
According to the passengers, about four KTC buses were plying from Panjim to Valpoi via Bicholim between 5 pm and 6 pm, but there was no bus service along the route between 6 pm and 8.15 pm. The next bus was only at 8.15 pm, while the last bus was at 8.30 pm, due to which passengers had to wait at the bus stand for about two hours.
After Herald had highlighted the issue, the KTC resumed the bus service along the Panjim-Bicholim route at 7.30 pm.
Incidentally, the KTC had started a bus service along the route in February, but it was discontinued within a week.
“We are thankful to the KTC for starting the by-pass bus service from Tuesday. We now reach Bicholim within 45 minutes, which not only saves our time, but we reach home early,” a commuter, Shraddha Gauthankar, told Herald.
