The Minister must also come out with the data of what efforts are taken by the government to provide employment opportunities to Goans in private industries, it said.

Slamming Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for his statement that almost 5000 people from outside Goa are working in various pharma companies in the State and are entering Goa daily, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Amarnath Panjikar said, “It exposes that the BJP government is working for welfare of non-Goans.”

“If Chief Minister himself accepts that almost 5000 workers enter Goa daily to work in various industries, it is clear that more than 15,000 to 20,000 jobs in Goa are currently occupied by non-Goans as many outsiders are actually staying in rented premises here. This is total injustice on the Goans and proves that BJP government is not at all concerned of the welfare of youths in Goa,” he charged.

Panjikar has warned the BJP government not to play with the sentiments and emotions of the people.

“In these critical times, the BJP government must work with a single point agenda for welfare of Goans”, he urged.

“It is shocking and highly condemnable that the most ‘irresponsible and defective’ Chief Minister makes a statement expressing his helplessness on restricting the movement of people from outside the State. This proves that for the local BJP government, wealth is above the health of Goans,” he alleged.
