Pilgaon villagers halt mineral trucks citing safety fears

Pilgaon-Sarmanas villagers on Monday blocked mineral trucks on the main road, claiming that a mining company had ignored road safety requirements. They said unchecked movement of heavy vehicles had turned the roads slippery and dangerous, posing daily risks to commuters and schoolchildren.

Residents alleged that despite several appeals, the company had not taken dust control or maintenance measures. Spillage from loaded trucks, they added, had worsened road conditions, forcing many two-wheeler riders to seek alternative routes.
