CANACONA: With frequent requests to provide a bus shelter near a Higher Secondary School at Dapot falling on deaf ears, students inorder to highlight their plight build a bus shelter out of empty polyethylene terephthalate (commonly known as PET) bottles.
This unique bus shelter is already attracting many a people attention and has been a talking point in and around the village since it was build last week.
Students who built the unique bus shelter speaking about their feat said that inspite of the Higher Secondary having over 300 students the authorities have failed to provide a bus shelter.
“The Higher Secondary was build atleast 30 years ago and is close to the NH66 and has students coming from all over Canacona taluka and a bus shelter is a necessity both during rainy and summer season,” said Vishant Prabhu who resides close to the Higher Secondary.
Another student said the idea for this unique bus shelter was given to them by their teacher and it took them two days to fully construct the bus shelter which can accommodate around 20 to 25 students.
“We collected about thousand PET bottles discarded by commuters on the road side and gave shape to the bus shelter which will give respite to us from the scorching hot sun while we wait for a bus to take us to our destination,” said another student.
