‘Save Tiracol’ musical concert blasts MLAs

MARGAO: A musical concert ‘Save Tiracol, Save Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim, Save Goa’ was organized by Cansaulim Villagers Action Committee (CVAC) and Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Civic and Consumer Forum (CACCCF) near the statue of late Matanhy Saldanha at Cansaulim, on Sunday.

Through song and verse, the singers and speakers blasted the 40 MLAs for their role in conniving against and cajoling the Goans to give up their precious land and natural resources to outsiders.
The speakers alleged that the panchas, sarpanchas and MLAs, with total disregard to tenancy laws, fraudulently wrested and deleted names from documents and evicted Goans from their ancestral lands using strong-arm tactics. They said the villagers vowed not to be cowed down by illegal tactics and would fight tooth-and-nail to protect their land, especially eco-fragile areas like Tiracol and CAC.
The activists asserted that the unity of Goans was their strength, and legal brains, journalists, and activists would not take the land-grab scam lying down.
Activists Sudeep Dalvi, Judith Almeida, Dr Marconi Correia, Fr Bismarque Dias, Mallika Fernandes, Belinda D’Souza, Zico Rodrigues Elliot, Selwyn Menezes, Prishila Fernandes,  Sidhanath Buyao,  Kennedy Afonso,  Frazer Vaz, Rio, among others, spoke and sang with gusto to a receptive audience.
