RAIA: In an unpredictable semi-final of 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy, Sao Jose de Areal came from three goals down to defeat United Club Verna 6-3 via tie-breaker to enter into the final at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Friday.
In a rain-hit match, UC Verna fired two goals in the first session of play through Roydon Rego and Meldon Moniz in the 22nd and 27th minute.UC Verna were leading 2-0 at the lemon break.
Changing over, UC Verna’s Johan Abranches scored by tapping the ball into the far corner of the net beating Sao Jose de Areal goalkeeper Aggie Antao in the 39th minute.
In the last quarter, Sao Jose de Areal’s Dyral Costa scored in the 44th minute and change the game as Azilton Viegas scored a quick brace to the much needed equaliser in the 50th and 51st minute. At full time, both teams settled for a 2-2 draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, Sao Jose de Areal goalkeeper Aggie Antao saved three penalties to send team into the final.
