PANJIM: Another director of Magnum Minerals Pvt Ltd, Ravindra Prakash was arrested for his alleged involvement in the illegal transportation of iron ore from Kadnekar mine in Quepem to China, police officials said.
SIT of Crime Branch apprehended the Delhi-native late Wednesday night after questioning.
“He was called to Crime Branch office at Dona Paula for questioning, from Delhi. We arrested him at the time of interrogation at around 10:30 pm on Wednesday,” an officer said.
He is accused of illegally transported around two million tons of iron ore between 2006 and 2012. A team led by DySP Nilu Raut Desai, comprising PI Satish Padwalkar and others will interrogate him in the next seven days. A local court has remanded him to seven days of custodial interrogation.
The case has been registered against him taking cognizance of a complaint filed by Mines Director Prasanna Acharya and Shah Commission report.
Prashant Sahu, also a director of the Magnum Company was recently arrested and
bailed out for impersonating as a revenue secretary and ordering a raid on Kadnekar mine. Meanwhile, yet another case of illegal transportation of ore is pending against him for which he has applied for anticipatory bail plea.
Two other accused – Assistant Manager (Operations) of Frost International Limited Subroto Barok and suspended draftsman at the directorate of Mines and Geology Robert Gonsalves are already behind bars in the mining-related case. Barok was on Thursday remanded to two days custody while his bail plea will come up for hearing on Saturday, when the remand period ends.
Prakash has been admitted to GMC after he complained of uneasiness.
