PANJIM: The Royal Supernovas emerged victorious against the Goan Gladiators, securing a 66-run triumph to claim the Yokohama Friendship Shield 2024, organised by Rodricks Tyres and Car Spa, at SK Ground, Malkarnem.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, the Goan Gladiators witnessed the Royal Supernovas losing half their side for 105 runs in 13 overs. A resilient sixth-wicket partnership between Arsh Sardesai and Siddhu Palghar, amassing 94 runs off 38 balls, propelled the Royal Supernovas to a total of 218/6 in 20 overs. Arsh Sardesai notched an unbeaten 92 runs off 38 balls, with Siddharth Ghanekar claiming two wickets for the Goan Gladiators.

In pursuit of 219, the Goan Gladiators faltered, being all out for 152. Siddharth Ghanekar contributed 32 runs, while Sunny and Kapil Borkar scored 28 and 22 runs, respectively. Granthik Buyao took four wickets, and Siddhu Palghar claimed two wickets for the Royal Supernovas.
Arsh Sardesai earned the Yokohama Player of the Tournament award, receiving an English Willow cricket bat and a medal for his standout performance in the finals. Viraj Puranik was recognised as the Best Batsman, Amlon D’Souza as the Best Bowler, Siddhu Palghar as the Best Fielder, and Ashish Patnekar as the Best Wicketkeeper. Aaradya Goyal was celebrated as the Emerging Player of the Tournament.
The Friendship Shield was presented to the Royal Supernovas by Ronark Rodrigues of Rodricks Tyres and Car Spa, with Dr Satyesh Kamat, Jyotendra Naik, and Balkrishna Hodarkar in attendance during the prize distribution ceremony.
