Fatorda group accuses candidate
of threatening voters
MARGAO: The Fatorda Vikas Aghadi (FVA) has accused a candidate of Margao’s Ward 23 of using threats to influence voters. It claimed that Radar Raikar from Borda, who is the election agent of candidate Sugandha Bandekar, is threatening to close government schemes like Griha Aadhar if the voters do not elect the BJP candidates with a thumping majority.
The FVA claimed that the agent is targeting the Talsanzor area, especially women of the underprivileged majority community, saying that it is their sacred duty to support the BJP-backed candidates.
FVA member Nilima Naik, who is also the leader of the Bhandari Samaj Women’s Wing, has urged the voters not to fall prey to threats. She said, “FVA strongly condemns these tactics of the BJP-backed panel and calls upon all citizens of Margao to remain vigilant, reject all such ploys and vote for the right candidate without falling prey to these intimidatory tactics. Voters should be aware that these BJP-backed candidates are the same as the outgoing political garbage of the Margao Municipal Council. Voters should not allow another term of misrule and corruption in the MMC.”

“Damu’s ward has been reserved for women, but I told Damu that the people of the ward are with me and they will support me in my endeavour,” said Kamat at the inauguration of Shirodkar’s office, adding, “Candidates from Fatorda and Cuncolim are contesting in this ward, but people must elect the person who has worked in this ward, and that person is Damu.”

Digambar has also asked the voters to elect Ward 17 candidate Mayenkar as he has been working for them for many years.
