MARGAO: The South Goa District Collector’s Office has issued directions to its officers not to grant or issue any type of permissions in agricultural/tenanted land for commercial purpose in South District.
The above order has been issued by Sharmila Gaunkar, Deputy Collector (LA), South Goa, upon the complaint filed by Jesito Mariano Felipe Gomindes, wherein it was brought to the notice of the office that permissions are granted for commercial events in paddy fields in Fatorda purchased under agricultural tenancy land thereby causing nuisance to public.

The issue was also raised in the recently held ‘Janta Darbar’, wherein the Collector had resolved the issue by issuing necessary directions to prevent violations of the Goa, Daman and Diu Agricultural Tenancy Act, 1964 and the Goa Land Use (Regulation) Act, 1991.
“The Janta Darbar, recognizing the gravity of the violations and their impact on the agricultural community and the general public, directed the collector to take immediate action on the complaint lodged by me,” said Gomindes, which highlighted the blatant violation of the provisions under the Goa Land Use (Regulation) Act, 1991, Goa, Daman and Diu Agricultural Tenancy Act, 1964.
The matter was acknowledged as one of the public concern, and the Collector has promptly resolved it by issuing necessary directions to all Deputy Collectors and SDM, South Goa.
