VASCO: The Harbour Coastal Security Police Station has registered a case against unknown persons for the murder of a 20-year-old youth from Odisha while working onboard a fishing trawler. The victim, identified as Padmalochan Salima, is suspected to have been killed in deep-sea waters, with his body subsequently dumped into the sea.
The incident came to light when the victim’s body was found floating in the sea. The murder is believed to have occurred between January 8 and 9, as indicated by the discovery of the body by Navy personnel.

The Navy handed over the body to the Coastal Police, initially registered as a case of unnatural death. However, the post-mortem examination revealed that the deceased was fatally struck by a blunt object.
Trawler owner Ishan De Souza, in his complaint, reported that the trawler had set out for fishing in deep-sea waters with 32 crew members. The incident occurred between Malim Jetty and the deep sea. The unidentified crew member allegedly committed the murder and disposed of Padmalochan Salima’s body in the deep sea from the fishing trawler.
The Harbour Coastal police have filed a case against unknown persons under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the IPC
PI Pradeep Velip is leading further investigations into the case.
