PANJIM: The Department of Science and Technology and Waste Management has notified a scheme to provide Grant-in-Aid for the students of high schools and higher secondary schools in the State to enable them to attend and participate in science seminars, workshops and awareness programmes in India.
A notification issued by the department says, the State government has framed a scheme to provide Grant-in-Aid for the students of high schools and higher secondary schools in the State.
The scheme shall come into force with immediate effect and shall be implemented by Goa State Council for Science and Technology (GSCST).
The notification says the scheme shall promote the goal of the department through students of high schools and higher secondary schools in the State by deputing them at various exhibitions, science seminars, visiting reputed institutions in India, science popularisation workshops and awareness programmes in reputed institutions. The scheme aims to inculcate the scientific temper in the minds of high school and higher secondary school students.
The scope of the scheme is to provide annual financial assistance to students of high schools and higher secondary schools to facilitate them to attend science seminars, workshops and awareness programmes in India with a condition that every team visiting these events shall contain at least 40% members from ST community.
Each group of students (maximum of 10 such groups/grantees) will be eligible to grant of Rs 50,000 or actual expenses, whichever is less, per annum for attending and participating in science seminars, workshops and awareness programmes. With the approval of the government in specific cases, higher amount could be granted.
