DABOLIM: Navelim Villagers Union edged past hosts Dicarpale Sports Club 2-1 in the first semi-finals of 5th Our Lady of Fatima Cup football, at Dicarpale ground, Saturday.
Sunny Colaco’s second half strike and Bittu Singh’s first half equaliser enabled Navelim Villagers Union to surpass Dicarpale test after the host had the early lead through Joel Furtado.
Dicarpale started the match on the front foot and surged ahead in the ninth minute when Mack Costa delivered a delightful through ball to Joel Furtado, who made no mistake, 1-0. Conceding the early goal, the visitors build up momentum and equalized through Bittu as the latter headed past the rival keeper off a Berwin’s cross.
Changing over, Navelim soon took the lead when Jordan Gomes’ smart through ball of a throw in to Sunny, who calmly shot past the rival keeper after dribbling a couple of defenders.
