UCASSAIM: The Ucassaim-Paliem-Punola gram sabha on Sunday demanded strict action against those involved in the sale of tobacco products in the village.
Acting Sarpanch, Pravandhana Mayekar presided over the meeting.
Secretary Smita Parab read out a memorandum on making the village smoking and tobacco free. A letter was received from the District Tobacco Control Cell to adopt a resolution for making North Goa tobacco free. When the matter was placed before the gram sabha for discussion, the villagers  opined that if any outlet is found selling tobacco products then the goods should be confiscated.
The ward members were asked to prepare a list of outlets selling tobacco products which would be shared with the competent authorities for further action.
