PANJIM: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa has demanded that Goa government withdraw the Goa Board exams in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the State. A small group of NSUI made a futile attempt to meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with their demand on Saturday evening.
“We didn’t raise our demand in the past since Goa was in Green Zone but in the last couple of days, the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing. There is possibility of community transmission, if even one student has the symptoms. Therefore, as a precaution the exams should not be held,” NSUI State President Ahraz Mulla informed Herald after leaving from the CM’s official residence at Altinho, Panjim.

The NSUI has also expressed apprehension on the stress level of each student in the present time. “N the back of their mind, the students will be worried about the rising cases in Goa,” Mulla added. If the demand is not heeded to, the Congress’ student wing has threatened to launch hunger strike from Monday.
The High Court on Friday, refused to interfere in the conduct of the exams paving way for the govt to continue with its plan to hold the SSC and HSSC examinations.
