PONDA: This monsoon flood affected people of Ganjem undeterred to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, have resorted to a temple, as their rain-washed houses are yet to be rebuilt.

It is a known fact that as per ritual festival of Ganesh can be held postponed only in case of unfortunate event in the family. With no houses to stay how we will celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi was the biggest question to all of us. I along with Mahadev Fadte, Surya Gaonkar, Sandip Naik requested Devasthan committee and they allowed us to celebrate the festival in the Ganjeshwar temple this year. We have received the disaster relief fund disbursed by the incumbent but they have promised us to build the houses along with Rotaract Club of Goa; but till now no officials of Rotaract has surveyed our area,” said a flood victim Ravji Vasant Phadte.
“We are seeking for financial help and requested the authorities to build the houses as promised at least by Diwali,” Satish Fadte of Ganjem.
Vishwas Fadte said, “We are staying in relatives houses and are dependent on others. We would like to request the government to build our houses as soon as possible.
