PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa unit has stated that cyclonic storm “Gulab”, is likely to increase the rainfall in Goa.

The IMD added that it weakened into a deep depression and lay centred at 8.40 am on September 27, over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh.
Further, the department informed that the storm is likely to move nearly westward and weaken into a depression on Monday into a well marked low pressure area during the subsequent 24 hours. “With its westward movement, rainfall activity is likely to increase over Goa. Heavy rainfall (i.e. rainfall above 6.4cm in 24hrs) is very likely at one or two places over North & South Goa districts on September 28 and 29. Please be updated about the weather warning in the coming days,” said IMD Goa on Monday, while adding that there would have been rainfall on Monday night too in isolated places.
“It is likely that the system could emerge into northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Gujarat coast around September 30 evening and there is likelihood for the system to further intensify over northeast Arabian Sea during the subsequent 24 hours,” said IMD Goa.
