PONDA: Rumours of a suspected air crash at Bhutkham-Keri in Ponda taluka left the police in a tizzy and efforts were on till late Friday night to verify the rumours.
According to reports, some locals from Vagureme claimed that a plane was flying very low in the area and others claimed to have heard an explosion.
The rumours spread life wildfire and some locals speculated that the crash may have taken place Khandepar or Bhutkham-Keri. A large number of people rushed towards Khandepar and Keri to confirm the news.
Some locals then intimated a 108 ambulance, which rushed to Khandepar before proceeding towards Keri.
As the news the police, Ponda DySP Dhinraj Govekar along with a police team also rushed to both suspected sites. “So far, there has been no sign of any plane crash. We are still monitoring the area,” DySP Govekar told Herald.
