Glaucoma camp on June 1
PANJIM: Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula will conduct a free glaucoma camp on June 1.
Glaucoma is a vision threatening disease which usually affects individuals above 50 years of age and causes damage to the eye’s optic nerve and gets worse over time. Glaucoma tends to be inherited and may not show up until later in life. Dr Kaushik U Dhume, glaucoma specialist at Manipal hospital will be conducting the camp. This is part of the Beat Invisible Glaucoma (BIG) campaign. The camp will constitute vision testing, eye pressure measurement, gonioscopy, slit lamp examination and retina examination. National award for Dr Paul Chalakkal
PANJIM: Dr Paul Chalakkal, Lecturer (Pedodontics) at Goa Dental College was felicitated by the Secretary General of the Indian Dental Association (IDA), Dr Ashok Dhoble at a recent IDA Goa programme for receiving the ‘Most Proactive Academician of the Year Award.’ This is a national award given to the dental academician with maximum number of Pubmed indexed publications and best presentation awards won at national conferences.
Wockhardt launches OPD at Vasco
PANJIM: NUSI Wockhardt Hospitals organized a health lecture on cardiology and urology at Vasco by Dr S Mukhopadhyay senior cardiologist and Dr Madhav Sanzgiri senior urologist. MMC Chairperson Tara Kerkar was the chief guest. Wockhardt Hospital also announced that they are launching a super speciality consultation OPD for cardiology and urology at Vasco in association with Vishwa Sanjivani Health Center. Meet the Artiste on May 26
PANJIM: Annie Arcanja Fernandes popularly known as Annie de Colvale on the tiatr stage will be the tiatr artist for the month of May at TAG’s monthly programme ‘Meet the Artiste’ on May 26, at 4 pm at TAG’s Conference Hall, Campal Trade Centre, Campal Panjim. Annie’s liking for acting and singing in tiatr came from her father who acted in village tiatr and was also a composer. Annie’s brother Diego also acted in village dramas. While schooling at Ponda Annie never let an opportunity go by to act in school concerts, programmes, etc. Later she began singing with her two sisters in village tiatr.
Eye camp at Sanguem
