PORVORIM: The heavy rains that lashed Bardez taluka a few days ago, have left puddles of stagnant rainwater at the Mapusa KTC bus stand, causing hardship to commuters.
Among the worst affected areas is the shuttle bus service office in the KTC bus stand, where the large quantity of stagnant water has become a potential breeding site for mosquitoes.
Adding to the misery of commuters, buses move at considerable speed at the bus stand and often splash the muddy water on the commuters.
What has also caused further concern is that garbage has piled up near the shuttle bus service section of KTC, with no concerted attempt by authorities concerned to remove the garbage from the site. Last year, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) had visited the KTC bus stand following a complaint from the local Shiv Sena.
