Former Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has broken his silence on his resignation amid protests over the NEET paper leak controversy, saying some people tried to mislead the younger generation during the agitation.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for Padma awardees in Sambalpur, Pradhan said he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his permission to acknowledge the aspirations and concerns of Gen Z. He said Modi agreed to the request and later addressed the issue himself.

“I have been a victim of Gen Z,” Pradhan said, adding that he felt some people had attempted to mislead the younger generation. He also maintained that he had never treated the matter as one of personal prestige.
Pradhan resigned as Union education minister on July 25 after weeks of student protests over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy. In his resignation note, he said he wanted to ensure that the agitation was not exploited for political purposes and that students’ futures were not caught in legal complexities.
He also said the government had acted after irregularities were reported in the examination, with the probe handed to the CBI and a re-examination conducted.
