A 17-year-old girl who had stepped out on her birthday to visit a temple was allegedly raped by three men who posed as policemen and threatened her and her friend with weapons in South Delhi, according to police.
The alleged incident took place on September 21 at Aastha Kunj Park, where the girl and her friend had stopped while on their way to another temple.

According to the FIR, the girl had planned to visit Kalkaji Mandir on her birthday and asked a friend to accompany her. The two left home at around 5 pm and reached the temple approximately 45 minutes later. They remained there until around 7 pm.
In her statement to police, the girl said that she and her friend subsequently entered Aastha Kunj Park through Gate No. 7. She told police that they planned to visit the ISKCON temple and decided to sit in the park for some time, have some chips and then proceed to the temple.
The girl has alleged that while they were in the park, three men approached them and claimed to be policemen. According to her complaint, the men allegedly threatened the girl and her friend with weapons before taking her to a secluded area of the park, where she alleges that she was raped.
Police have registered a case based on the girl’s complaint, and further investigation into the alleged incident is underway.
