PONDA: Residents of Banastarim in Bhoma-Adcolna Panchayat are urging authorities to address the issue of a choked nallah (stream) filled with silt. They stress the necessity of removing the silt to allow the smooth flow of water downstream, potentially benefiting farmers in cultivating their agricultural land.
When contacted, Sarpanch Damodar Naik assured that steps would be taken to address the situation through the Water Resources Department (WRD). He acknowledged the prolonged neglect of nallah cleaning and emphasized its importance in preventing downstream flooding during heavy rainfall. Naik pledged to follow up on the issue with local MLA Govind Gaude and WRD Minister Subash Shirodkar to expedite the cleaning process.
Efforts to clean the nallah in the past have reportedly failed, leading to recurring issues. However, Naik said he would strive to resolve the issue, considering its impact on the residents and agricultural activities in the area.
