Panic grips liquor outlet owners in Bicholim

BICHOLIM: The bar owners from Bicholim are in panic and confusion since their licences have not yet been renewed by the department. Speaking to Herald liquor wholesaler, Nitin Kumbharjuvekar said, “We are still not clear about the issue.” “Tomorrow’s decision will make everything clear whether the order applies to only bar and restaurants, or also to the wholesalers,” he said adding, “if the license is not renewed, then, even the stock that we have will be illegal and we will be in big trouble.”However, the bar owners seem relaxed as they feel that the Supreme Court order might only apply to wholesalers. “We feel that the bars and restaurants will be exempted from the order and the picture will be clear by tomorrow,” Samresh Kanekar stated.
