VASCO: Mormugao administration held a discussion on the preparation for upcoming saptah festival in the port town of Vasco.
Deputy Collector Paresh Faldessai, head of the administration, discussed with the officials the arrangement for parking, illumination of streets, repairing the roads and installation of CCTV in view of the festival.
Faldessai instructed to National Highway authority and PWD to undertake immediate repairing of potholes in Vasco.
Police have been instructed to install two CCTVs one at the spot where Sada and Bogda buses stop and another at Cine Vasco to avoid any chain snatching and other incidences.
Parking provision will be done at Maimolem open space next to Hotel Tania. The private buses will have to use the road from Khariawada.
There will be illumination work which will be done by electricity department. This time there will be mobile toilet facility made available with sewerage connection. Fogging will be done in Vasco saptah all seven days. Vasco saptah will be plastic free.
Meanwhile, the Mormugao Municipal Council has decided to go plastic free for saptah this year.
The municipality has decided to provide bio-toilets for the festival and make special arrangement for parking.
A meeting of the council observed that the segregation of garbage in proper way needs to be done.
Citing the recent tragedy in Ahmadabad wherein people fell off from a giant wheel like structure, the councilors suggested that the council prohibit giant wheel amusement for the sapatha.
Another issue raised at the meeting was, staff shortage and a requirement of additional JCB to undertake various works.
