PANJIM: By 2016, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary could introduce Open Book Exams for class XI, in continuation of the exercise for optimizing use of textbooks under CCE at class IX from June this year.
“The CBSE has introduced Open Book Exams for class XI from this year,” explained Goa Board Chairman J R Rebello, while speaking to Herald Monday adding that there is much more needed to be achieved here in Goa before this concept is introduced.
The Goa Board, assessing the current scenario has pointed out that usage of textbooks is minimal and the concept for Open Book Exams would not meet any purpose.
Experts opine that in the present day scenario students are opting for external guides rather than optimizing use of the textbooks.
“Under the CCE, the usage of textbooks would be a must,” explained Rebello pointing out that in two years from now the Open Book Exam could be considered.
