Sao Jose De Areal: Sao Jose De Areal gram sabha adjourned after 40 minutes after members expressed dissatisfaction as they could not get the replies to the queries they had asked at the meeting which saw heated discussions.
The gram sabha of Sao Jose De Areal started at 10.30 am in the Community Hall. All the panch members were present. The gram sabha was chaired by the Deputy Sarpanch Gabriel Oliviera.
After reading the minutes of the previous meet, Olivera took the points from gram sabha members. Responding to queries on the industrial estate related issues, the deputy sarpanch said he will write to the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) officials. To another query, he informed the ward members to identify the damaged power poles so that he could write to the electricity department to replace them.
However, the matter reached a stalemate after Freddy Travasso inquired on the status of the housing projects. Travasso asked how many mega projects cases were pending in different courts and what the present status is, as the former sarpanch, who has served the village for the past three years did not give any license for the mega projects. There are around eight cases of mega project pending in various courts.
To this, the deputy sarpanch was not able to give a proper reply, and so the members called on the panchas to study the matter and adjourn the meeting till they have an answer to the question. The meeting was subsequently adjourned for 15 days and rescheduled to be held on August 16.

CUNCOLIM: Villagers grilled Balli Sarpanch Alka Potadar and panch members for not taking cognizance of the frequent power failures in the panchayat area. The members questioned the sarpanch and panchayat body on the steps adopted for tackling the power failures. Members said that it is the duty of the panchayat members to ensure that the villagers get uninterrupted power supply.
The villagers informed that the cables are old and need to be replaced and called upon the panchayat to take this issue up with the electricity department and inform the MLA to rectify the problem.
