MARGAO: Margao Cricket Academy filed a suit before the District Court and had obtained an ex-party injunction against the construction of a proposed school building and football stadium on the existing cricket ground inside the Government Multipurpose School complex.
“We served the stay order on the Principal of the school, GSIDC, Chief Secretary and other concerned departments but they are continuing the construction work,” said Showmik Pai Angle, the advocate for the plaintiff.
Angle said that he has taken photos and video evidence of the construction activity and would be producing it as evidence while filing a contempt case against the defendants.
“We are not against the construction of the new school but we want to save our cricket ground. We have given them a plan where they can save the cricket ground and build a new school. But they did not accept it and our clients were forced to approach the court,” Angle said.
