PANJIM: The Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) has urged the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department to immediately revoke permission granted to M/s Parmesh Construction Company Limited or Bhutani Infra project at Sancoale and to discharge his duties ethically in the light of the transgressions it has brought to the department’s notice.

GBA convenor Sabina Martins has brought to the notice of the Chief Town Planner the gross transgressions by the developer which are clear violations of TCP regulations and requirements of Environmental Clearances and Forest Clearances. “As the technical body with the power to grant development permissions, it is shocking that such obvious prerequisites had not been considered by the four-member committee constituted on November 8, 2023, as reported in the 2nd meeting dated January 12, 2024,” she said.
According to Martins, environment clearance, a prerequisite for any large project had not yet been obtained by the company and also, the PWD had not granted a water connection to the developer. The GBA stated that the access to the property is shown as seven metres but minimum width required is 10 metres for C1 zone as per regulation. She said, “Therefore, this cannot and must not be relaxed under any circumstance as the sheer volume of traffic involving personal and service movement.”
Martins asserted that no permissions have been obtained from the Goa State Fire and Emergency Services, which is required for proper access by fire-tenders while mandatory ‘open space’ as per regulation had been covered by multi-storeyed parking.
