Cong hold protest demanding postponement of NEET, JEE exam

Margao: Hitting out at what they described to be an ‘insensitive’ BJP-led Central government headed by an ‘arrogant’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress protested against the decision of the government to hold exams of JEE-NEET. 

Congress said  BJP government was putting the lives of young students in danger in view of the prevailing COVID pandemic.

Pointing out to the high COVID figures in the country, Congress questioned why the government was hell bent in going ahead with the exams. 

GPCC president Girish Chodankar and other Congress workers protested in front of Income Tax Office at Margao as part of Congress’s  nationwide agitation.

 Girish said the government is exposing over 25 lakh students and another 25 lakhs parents to coronavirus by making them travel across various States. 

“Students who are already under stress will have to travel hundreds of kilometres with no public transport available and non-availability of lodging/hotel facilities,” he added.

“The BJP govt should listen to the students and understand their concerns and must make alternate arrangements by consulting the experts in the field of education, said GPCC General Secretray Subhash Phaldessai. 

AICC social media team also protested online using #SpeakUpForStudentSaftey which trended at top globally on tweeter. From Goa, Congress leaders along with various office bearers and student activists participated in the campaign.
