PONDA: Repair works of potholes has began but Pondaites are unhappy as though some roads are repaired many of them complained got little or no relief as after repairs the potholes turned bumpy. The entire road stretch in Ponda and in surrounding Panchayats are even worse as at many places tar and gravel have washed away and developed rough patches so they believe only hotmixing and carpeting would end their suffering.
Mahesh Naik at Ponda said that neck problem, back ache riding through rough still persist and early hotmix carpeting of the town and nearby village panchayat roads is the only solution on this problem.
Scooter rider Shivaji Naik sharing the same sentiments claimed cosmetic repairs will not work. “Though potholes are repaired at some places they are not leveled. Covered Sewerage chambers are above road level and thus giving zig zag and bumpy ride so they feel there is no change in situation.
Sewerage officials claim 95 per cent work is completed so the Pondaites demand government should began hotmix carpeting at the town.
Some potholes are still lying untouched and people doubt whether government would able to keep its promise of completing the work by October 31. CM Pramod Sawant had said that people will not see any pothole on road after November 1.
The road condition is worst opposite the Ponda Fire Station, near Alemeida High School, upper Bazaar, Daag Ponda where gravel and tar are washed away and rough patches have resurfaced.
