Churchill-Mickky split wide open
Alemao slams call for probe on roads

MARGAO, AUG 15
Public Works Development Minister, Churchill Alemao slammed former Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco for demanding a probe into the bad condition of roads, asserting that the condition of many a road in Benaulim constituency is bad because of the neglect by the local legislator.
Alemao further demanded to know the fate of crores of rupees spent by the tourism department for beach cleaning in the State. He said the State has now got a good and efficient tourism minister in Nilkant Halarnkar and announced that shacks will now be alloted to the owners by September without any bribes.
Without taking Pacheco’s name, a visibly upset PWD minister said “If the roads in Benaulim, Colva, Majorda are in bad shape, the MLA has not come to me with the request to undertake the road works”.
Saying that the Benaulim MLA should stop fooling the people, Alemao said that Zilla Panchayat Chairperson Maria Rebello, Calvert Gonsalves, Agnelo Fernandes from Colva, and the parish priest of Seraulim will also help to get the roads repaired in the constituency. “All the internal roads in Benaulim have been put for tenders. Work on topping the roads will commence soon”, he said.
Throwing an open challenge, Alemao said no other PWD minister has done so much work in the State in the recent past and told the MLA to stop fooling the people and speak the truth. “This MLA should know that he got re-elected from Benaulim by a thin margin”, he added.
