MARGAO: The meeting convened by the South Goa Comunidade Forum at Margao on Saturday to discuss the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) turned out to be a damp squib as representatives of only five comunidades attended the meeting.
The members present decided to write to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority asking them to take every comunidade into confidence while preparing the fresh plans and also to have a physical ground study.
They also decided to ask for a white paper from the authorities on the intention of preparing the plan so that people know what they are meant for. “There is a great apprehension that the plans are prepared with an ulterior motive to help some individuals,” President of the Forum Franky Monteiro said.
Incidentally, there are 90 comunidades in South Goa with 60 of them being in Salcete alone and only representatives of Curtorim, Loutolim Davorlim, Cansaulim and Margao were present for the meeting on Saturday.
