RAIA: Navelim Villagers Union edged past Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda, 6-5 via tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of 51st Custodio memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club at Raia panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Both teams gave their best in front of above 800 spectators. Likson Rebello of Fr Agnelo YSC opened the scoreline in the 44th minute but the joy was short-lived as Clinton Niasso equalised for Navelim VU in the 69th minute.

In the resultant tie-breaker, Navelim Villagers Union proved to be better shooters. The man-of-the-match was awarded to Navelim Villagers Union’s Clinton Niasso by Marcus Gonsalves, Konkanni writer and director.
