MARGAO: The members of Tribal Federation from all over Goa agitated opposite the KTC bus stand in Margao on Friday demanding approval of the applications of their members for government benefits.
The Tribal Federation threatened to stage a much bigger agitation in front of the residence of the chief minister if their demands are not fulfilled.
The Tribal Federation has demanded the government agency concerned to process and approves all pending applications of GTEGP scheme by February 28. It has further demanded revocation of the notification by which the scheme was transferred to EDC from Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
According to the Federation, following a complaint by them, the agency had given a written assurance to the prime minister that they would clear all the files but have not fulfilled the assurance.
“We have been kept in the dark while transferring the scheme to EDC and we now demand that the transfer be revoked,” demanded Rupesh Velip, he Federation secretary.
“The director Venancio Furtado be removed with immediate effect or all the applicants and their families will go on a hunger strike in front of the chief minister’s residence,” Rupesh threatened.
