PANJIM: In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats (AAGMJ) has appealed to its community not to hold any Iftar parties in Masjids or home during upcoming Ramadan festival beginning from April 25.

AAGM in an advisory issued has also asked its followers not to engage in Taraweeh namaz in Masjid or with neighbours or locality and also not to indulge in getting people together to perform the same.
AAGM President Shaikh Bashir Ahmed has said that no Iftar parties should be held at any Masjids across the State nor people should engage in holding such event at home or neighbourhood localities for relatives and friends.
It has also asked followers to restrict themselves from moving out of the houses, since the nation is under lockdown till May 3
“During the month of Ramadan, please reach out to the needy, starting from your relatives to the needy people around your neighbourhood and the society,” the association said.
“In these trying times, please remember the entire ‘ummah’ (community), our nation, all the doctors, frontline health workers, police and all involved in fighting the pandemic in your ‘duas’ (prayers),” it added.
All Masjid committees have been directed to strictly adhere to lockdown guidelines issued by the govt.
