VALPOI: Due to the heavy rains and gusty winds, four electric poles were grounded leaving the Derode Village in Valpoi in the dark for the last two days.
The villagers have complained to the Valpoi Electricity Department regarding the incident but till date they have not taken any action
According to the villagers, every year in the monsoon season they are facing the power supply problem. Nagargao Village Panchayat was informed about the power shortage and the issue was also raised in the gram sabha. But the panchayat has failed totally to solve the power supply problem.
“Our local MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane is not bothered of rural villagers’ basic problem. The MLA is only visiting Valpoi town and meeting the town people. The health minister is more concerned about Valpoi Town people than rural villagers. We tried to reach out to health minister but his personal assistant has told us that the MLA is busy with the ongoing Assembly Session,” said a villager.
