SANGUEM: Uguem Rising Club, Sanguem defeated Sarvodaya Sporting Club, Kalay Sanguem by 5-4 via tie breaker in the inaugural match of 11th edition of Late Kalidas Rama Gauns Dessai Memorail rolling football tournament organised by Sarvodaya Sporting Club and played at Government High School ground at Kalay.
The score remained at 1-1 during the regulation time. Naresh Gaonkar of Sarvodaya Sports Club was the first to score through a snap shot in the 20th minute of play. Uguem Rising Club subsequently tried their best to level, but to no avail. Uguem Rising Club however managed to level the score in the dying minutes with only four minutes left for play, through Asiyo Carvalho.
The tournament was declared open by the Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of ZP Member Pradeep Dessai, President of Sarvodaya Sports Club Vilas Dessai, Deputy Sarpanch Kalay Balo Rekdo and others.
MLA Ganesh Gaonkar in his inaugural speech assured of building up basic infrastructural facilities in the rural villages of Sanvordem constituency to enable the youths sector to show case their talents in the field of sports.
