Cuncolim Union led 1-0 at half time. They fielded the strong team against depleted Betalbatim Sporting Club who played sans five regulars and Cuncolim Union took the advantage and attacked the rival goal right from the word go. Nilesh Velip put Cuncolim Union into the lead in the very 5th minute off a cross from Daulat Dessai.
Crossing over, Cuncolim Union continued to dominate the proceedings and pushed their opponents on the back foot for major part of the game. Nilesh, who was in thick of action struck second time to give his team 2-0 cushion and also completed his brace soon after resumption.
At the other hand, Betalbatim were struggling to contain the rival rampaging forwards and meekly surrender their challenge. Daulat Dessai fired the last nail into rival coffin with stuff grounder.
Cuncolim Union were richer by Rs 30,000 and a trophy while Betalbatim Sporting Club had to settle for Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Velim MLA Benjamin Silva, President of GFA Elvis Gomes, Parish Priest of Sarzora Church Fr Reginaldo Mascarenhas, Headmistress of Assumpta Convent, Sarzora Sr Jessie, Zilla Parishad Member Seema Dias; John Dias, ex-treasurer of GFA and Cleofasio Dias, ex-chairperson of South Goa Zilla Parishad.
Individual prizes were awarded to: Best Discipline Team St Rock SC (Calata-Majorda),Man-of-the-match James Rebello (Betalbatim SC), best goalkeeper Edney Fernandes, first scorer of the final Nilesh Velip, best defender Krishna Shrodkar (all Cuncolim Union), best midfielder
Anson Fernandes (Betalbatim), best striker of the final Ricky Fernandes (Betalbatim).
