In a major crackdown on illegal transport services, over 500 privately registered vehicles are set to face cancellation of registration for operating unlawfully as rent-a-bike and rent-a-car services, according to SP Traffic Prabodh Shirvoikar.
The traffic department has identified these vehicles during ongoing enforcement drives across the state. As per the Motor Vehicles Act, privately registered vehicles are not permitted to be used for commercial rental purposes without proper licensing and permits.

SP Shirvoikar warned that strict action will be taken against violators, including deregistration of vehicles and penalties. Authorities have urged the public to avoid hiring unlicensed vehicles and to use only legally registered rental services.
