MAPUSA: St Alex Parish Youth, Calangute, defeated Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Chapel Youth, Curpavaddo-Cortalim, to emerge champions in the 5-a-side All-Goa Parish Youth football tournament for boys organised by St Francis Xavier Parish Youth of Tuem, at the Don Bosco football turf, Panjim, recently.
In the girls’ 3-a-side tie-breaker final, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Youth, Navelim, triumphed over St Michael’s Parish Youth,Taleigao.
The tournament attracted 48 boys teams and 24 girls teams from various parishes across Goa and was inaugurated by chief guest Fr Francis Silveira SDB, rector of the Shelter Home for Boys, Ucassaim, in the presence of
notable guests of honour Fr Clive Telles, provincial of the Salesian Province of Panjim-Konkan; Devendra Prabu Dessai, a social worker, from the Mandrem Constituency; Francis Fernandes, former vice-president of the Goa Football Association and Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira.
